Eclectic Bohemian Nursery Reveal

My baby girl’s room is the most special place in our home. It was the first room to get a new coat of paint and art on the wall because I wanted my then 6 month old to have a finished space to rest and call her own.

Just last spring I shared our modern boho nursery reveal in our SC home. It’s where we brought our daughter home, and it will always hold a special place in my heart. I didn’t think I could love another room as much as I did that one, but boy was I wrong!

Both rooms are comparable in size and have a large window, but I knew I wanted this one to be slightly different. I wanted to use more contrast, pattern mixing, and a few layout changes that would make the space more efficient.

This room gets an incredible amount of natural light, and when you look out the window, all you see is a tiny wood shed and trees. It’s so quaint and peaceful. It’ll be the perfect space for my daughter, Olive, to grow, learn, and rest.

I started this room by painting the room Swiss Coffee by Behr with their Marquee line. It went on incredibly smooth with only one coat!

I then chose a stencil to give the main wall a pop without being permanent. I used the Brushstroke Allover Stencil by Cutting Edge Stencils. The stencil took a few days to complete with a new crawler to wrangle, but it was easy to use with step-by-step instructions. I brought home loads of paint chips and chose Stone Lion by Behr by comparing it with the brown strands in the pink yarn in my yarn hanging. I love the contrast with the white walls!

One small detail that I changed was the height of the yarn wall hanging. Olive started crawling and pulling up just days after moving, so the last thing I want her to do is yank the yarn out piece by piece! It’s funny how having a child gives you wisdom for things that really matter.

You can check out my step-by-step tutorial on how to create your own yarn wall hanging here.

Another change is with the location of the lamp. It now sits under the wall shelf, which gives me a sneaky little spot to mount the video monitor.

Making her grand debut is my sweet little flower girl print from Minted. I can see this bouquet following Olive throughout many room transitions through the years.

I’m still crazy about my Graham Glider from West Elm. I love that there’s plenty of room for Olive to sit next to me and read books. I’ve clocked so many hours on that cushion, and it still looks brand new.

There are still a couple projects left to do in this room before it’s 100%, but we’re loving it just the way it is for now. We have plans to rebuild the book ledges on the small wall to the left of the closet and replace the dated white fan with a new light fixture. You can check out my book ledge tutorial here.
