February has been a whirl-wind of a month. We’ve jumped from project to project in order to get the nursery finished before March even though Baby Girl isn’t due until May. Nearly every weekend in March and April are booked with trips, showers, and guests. I know these last 10 weeks will fly by, and I wanted to have a finished place to put all of the girl’s gifts before my first shower. We’re so close to being finished, and I can’t wait to share it with y’all!
During this busy time, there have been several things that have made me pause and remember the little joys in life. It’s nice to reflect on things that bring me happiness on a daily basis. It’s definitely a goal of mine even when I get caught up in the routine day-to-day grind.

Podcasts have been a new favorite of mine over the past year. Patrick and I both would rather put on a podcast and fiddle around the house or in the yard than sit and watch TV. Out of the several that I subscribe to, The Happy Hour is easily the one I look forward to the most. Jamie Ivey sits down with a guest once a week and chats about “the big things in life, the little things in life, and everything in between”. Her guests are typically women of faith who are speakers, authors, influencers, or just have a story of faith to share. I’ve laughed, cried, and been deeply inspired by listening to her interviews.
I’ve listened to episode #127 with Sally Clarkson twice this month. She is an award-winning author of several books on Christian motherhood and parenting. Her wisdom was deep, and I took notes since I’m about to embark on the motherhood journey for the first time in a couple months.
She simply put the importance of motherhood in a just few words. Sally stated that Jesus entrusted us with these little lives that will have an impact on eternity. And that the most important act of worship is to shape, form, and take care of these children that we will have to answer Jesus for one day. We need to look at our children as the story we are writing, and the best story I will ever write will be that which is hidden in my home. The daily intentional acts of parenting with the mindset of eternity are crucial.
To know that I will have to answer to Jesus for my life as mother gives me a whole new perspective on bringing this little girl into the world.

On a much lighter note, these are the only sheets I will purchase, ever! I’ve bought several different brands, but these have outlasted any sheet I’ve tried. They do not peel or wear, and they stay soft and cool. What more can you ask for out of a set of sheets? You spend more time on that single surface than you do anything else, so it’s okay to invest in a good set. The Threshold Performance Sheets are currently on sale at Target for $40 for a queen set. Do yourself a favor and pick up a set … or 10.
I’m a lipstick hoarder. I would be embarrassed if you looked in my purse at this very moment. With my obsession, I rarely use the same product on my lips everyday. I bought this Rimmel lipstick a few weeks ago on sale at Walgreens for $4. I’ve worn it nearly everyday since. That’s saying a lot with the heaps of options in my purse. It goes on glossy but dries down and stains your lips for several hours. It’s one of the best “your lips but better” lipsticks I’ve found.
4 / Air Plants
I have big intentions of refreshing my terrariums and making new ones this spring, so I ordered a pack of 5 air plants from Amazon. They’re so much more affordable there then if you buy a single one at a nursery or home improvement store. With these spring-like temperatures we’ve been having in South Carolina, I just want to fill my house will all things green, so these air plants are a good start. I’ve yet to refresh my terrariums, but I did throw a new one together a couple weeks ago.
Just a quick tip on air plants: you can’t put them in closed containers. They need air. Hence the name “air” plants. Spritz them with water every couple weeks, and they should have a nice, long life.
I love this article by Hello Luvvy on 7 DIY Air Plant Holders. I’ll definitely be referring to this when I go to create a home for the other four air plants that are sadly waiting for a place to reside.
